Wow. That sounds nice YB... did u know about all the books before u left or stumbled on it in the town? I'd LOVE to go to Scotland. I watch what I can on the topic. Nice that y'all go out got away. So Scotland is how far in hours from u? And GIS, he's there, right? Yep, love this Fall weather. Today will be 87 - our LAST hot day of the year, I think.

We have been away for a few days. Travelled north first to Alnwick. This is only about 30 miles from the Scottish border.
There is an absolutely massive book shop there called Barters Books. Not new books, they just offer used, second hand, pre-enjoyed, whichever description suits.
They have books costing between Two Pounds and Sixty Pounds. The expensive ones are first editions or signed by the author (or both).
There are four stands containing my sort of books, Thriller, Police Procedural, Mystery. Several hundred books on each stand. These four stands comprise no more than 5% of the total number of books.I have never seen a used book shop anywhere near the size of this one.
Ten minutes walk away is another one, not as big but still a good selection, amazing, two good book shops in this small town, population around 8000. I bought 5 books, could probably have found 20 with more time (and more money
)
From there we moved on south and east, travelled through the Tyne Tunnel and on to Redcar, Saltburn and Whitby. All places by the sea.
Had a good time away, weather very pleasant, dry with some sun everyday. Temps only around mid 50's but about what would be expected at thos time of year

For the last three days we have had wet mornings with dry sunny afternoons. A bit windy, possibly near 40mph but not all the time
I think that should have been in weather section

Ford Focus is a solid choiceOriginally posted by YB View Post
Went fine, Dan.
Collected yesterday, a Ford Focus, obviously not a new one. ai face upscaler Don't know if that is a familiar model to you. https://kobilabs.com/ She likes it, my bank balance is a few hundred less than it was. But when a car is damaged beyond repair you just have to be grateful that no one was hurt.

Such SAD news Pete Rose has passed- my childhood favorite- so sad for what he's gone through. To me ~ he was just great- the ultimate baseball player. Things sports figures do these days & they treated Pete Rose so awful. I've told y'all many times the baseball strikes cut me as a young “player” - but in 2008 when I finally had the opportunity to see Cincinnati's field- walk up to the center viewing hall - yep I teared up - it was a great moment
He was the greatest of MY time. #14

Glad to hear it YB ... YES a Ford Focus is a popular car here too. My Dad was retired Ford - we had Ford products in our family ALWAYS. Kevin & I drive Chevrolet/Cadillac but Dad understood
New cars are "difficult" anyway - there is TOO MUCH going on inside them, IMO. I still won't use the backup feature - I always roll my window down & stick my head out -- to this day. We don't know how to bluetooth our stuff in this new car BUT I do like the XM radio ALL 70's channels and of course the HOLIDAY Channel year round.
