  • Dirty Business by Oliver Tidy - author only available on kindle, no "paper" books
This is the first in the Acer Sansom series.

I have read this author before in a series called Romney and Marsh, a pair of detectives based on the south coast of England.

I like him, all have been good, but not brilliant. I shall get more when they are available free ( or nominal charge)

    • Murder/mystery/court proceedings, great story by Robert Dugoni, "My Sister's Grave", have never read anything by him before and was tempted to stay up and finish it before bed but I have to be up and alert by 8:00 as Charlie, our poodle/terrier mix, has bladder stones and is on medication and special dog food four times a day, the meds just twice a day, so want to get the stones dissolved so he doesn't need surgery. He seems to be doing well and is a lot more lively now.

      • Hope Charlie continues to mend.

        • wow Mo. I'm sorry to hear that. I have seen footage of this kind of thing in dogs. I hope they're not too big & that they will dissolve quickly. I've only seen the surgery treatment. I didn't know they could dissolve them. Wish they could do that in people. Kevin's on #19. How did y'all diagnose that?

          • Finished "What If" by Randall Munroe. Very funny! Especially the section where he drains all of the oceans and everything on earth becomes the Netherlands. Yes!

Now reading "The Wrong Side of Goodbye" by Michael Connelly.

            • 4A - they did an x-ray and found that one of the stones was down in the ureter which was making him ill, they returned the stones to the bladder? I don't know how, and now with the special dog food it's supposed to help dissolve them, I hope.

              • Oh, ok that makes sense to me. I was wondering what your dogs symptoms were? poor baby. Keep me updated, please.
I'm off the the Vet today as well. Simon & her allergies. It seems to happen when I take her outside - or is it now that the heats on more, or is it the aerosol sprays we use, or is the food ... see, with a cat - you just never know! She's keeping her eyes in a squint (we call it "Stevie Wondering") then she's shaking her head a lot & seems to be unable to complete a jump, it's as though she's off balance. --- that's a new one. I'm such a sucker to take outside! She loves it!

ok -- off topic I understand. Mo, go to What are you doing .... for your update

                • Just finished lunch and was watching the tennis semi-final, have a new Detective Ryan book going, unfortunately it seems to be listed in romantic mysteries and hopefully the romance part will be kept to a minimum.

                      • Snatched by Mandasue Heller. I have read a few by this lady previously. They are not murder/mysteries, usually about a young ( not neccessarily teenage) girl who is badly treated by a man or men. Set in Manchester, a city in the north west of England. I quite like them. Is this what you call "chic-lit?

I then moved on to Last Act of All by Aline Templeman. Couldn't get into this, abandoned 20% in.

I am now half way into Hushabye by Celina Grace. This is the first in the Kate Redman series, a lady policeman in the south of England. I'm liking it and will seek out more in this series. I believe they are kindle only.

                            • Still working my way thru Mitch Rapp. What happened to Hurley??? I think the list I have is incorrect as far as the order goes. Also, 4 out of 5 books Rapp seems to "question" Kennedy. This one is taking me awhile, it's kinda SLOW.

                              • Still working on Unwritten. Have also started The Survivors Club by Lisa Gardner. She's going to be in Vero today and so I figured I should at least start the book that I'm going to have her sign!
