  • I'm thinking Greg Wilson must be a fairly new author. The only other title by him I can find is The Domino Game

The Dead American was good. Set in Singapore and featuring Detective Samuel Tay. There are two other books with this character and also three with Jack Shepherd as the main man.

I'm moving on now to Snared by Ed James. Main character here is lady policeman Vicky Dodds, set in Dundee. This is the first I have read with this lady although I have read several by Ed James about Edinburgh policeman Scott Cullen. I liked those. I believe this author is only available on Kindle

And book club tonight for "A Man Called Ove"...hope I remember it well enough to discuss it!

          • Finished "the Whistler" by Grisham. Not his best, but still a pretty good read.

Now reading 'Langs de afgrond' a Dutch book, (best translated by 'Staring in the Abyss'). It discribes ten years of our turbulent past. 'Our', being my political party D66 (D=Democrats). Fascinating stuff ;-) No really, we almost disappeared, and then made a strong comeback in 2012. 'Coming back from the dead' could have been an even better title.

Wish the US Democrats hadn't died so dramatically, no one seems to know what to expect of the incoming administration, can't even call it straight Republicans, seems to be a bit of a division in their party.

I liked this. I put it aside temporarily whilst I read the new Reacher but it was well worth returning to. I shall seek out more of this series

                      • I forgot to take 'Langs de afgrond' (Dutch book about politics) with me to Austria. Instead 'Girl on a train'. Good so far. Visiting London (trains etc.) helps to understand the story.

                          • On my 3rd John Puller Jr. book. He's a lot like Reacher - I think y'all would like him. It's David Baldacci.

                            • If my memory is correct I seem to think that a few years ago on here (or the previous forum) the members were up in arms as they accused Mr Baldacci of "stealing" the Reacher idea? Any one else remember that or is it just my old tired brain playing tricks?

In my mind I picture the character to look like the actor that plays HOMICIDE HUNTER Joe Kenda on ID Channel.
