  • Thanks 4A - have requested a dietician visit but she hasn't shown up yet - so just have to muddle along for a while. Got a book on low sodium recipes and it was written by an American author and many of the ingredients were things I had never had occasion to purchase and some of the items were US brands - it also looked as though it was very nittty picky, which of course that would be necessary to avoid the salt. I need simple, not up to challenges in the kitchen nowadays.

      • Thinking about you Mo, you have certainly had it rough this past few months. Hope things improve for you soon

        • Thanks YB - yes it has been a rough time for sure, hoping that everyone stays healthier now, Dave's walking is a problem for him but he uses his walking stick in the house and a wheeled walker if we have to go for appointments. The physio fellow wants him to walk more and I don't know how he's going to do that, takes him all his time to walk across the living room - at 88 I don't think there will be any great improvement physically just as long as we can help him to keep his heart ticking over. Thanks for the good wishes.

          • Finally got back in to the forum, have been in outer space for a number of hours but Gis was my saviour. Just wanted to tell you that I had a Happy Birthday call from Vince, we haven't been in touch for a while and it was nice to know all seems to be well with him, still working hard. Wish we could have him back on the forum and the others who we've lost touch with along the way.

            • Mo! Happy Belated Birthday! I didn't see it ... and thenI noticed the calendar is stuck on December 2018. I hope you had a relaxing day. I too wish the old gang was back on. I miss talking with everyone about their world.

                • I think there is a point in time where birthdays are to tolerate, not celebrate. I got to that point a few years ago

                    • Today trying AGAIN to catch my 15lb black cat Dot to take her to the Vet for a simple nail trim. Oh, I WON'T DO IT. But they do every 3 months or so. Yesterday she "just knew"... anytime I walked near her she ran under the bed & sat dead center.... I had to finally cancel. Don't know how it's gonna "go down" today but tick tock, less than 1 hour. ha!

                      • What a sweetie pie. She was asleep & I just walked up & said “we’re going to the Vet” you know John Wayne style - picked her up ( held my breath) & put her in the carrier. She moaned all the way there & back.

                            • Wish I had a cuddly cat or a cuddly dog, we have never had dogs who liked to be pampered. When we first came to Ontario and brought our cats with us, the one cat, Cleo, loved to sit on Dave's knee and every so often so would reach up and gently pull on his hair. But since we've had dogs we haven't been able to have cats who would like to wander outside and they get picked up by Animal Control and it's a hefty fine to get them back, it's illegal to let them loose although there is a black and white cat who likes to sit under our one shrub and wait to see if he can nab an unwary bird.

                              • Oh funny Mo. I wish u could adopt a senior cat. My cats were never the lap cats one hears of. Maybe when they were very young. My black cat Dot sleeps up next to me every night & she even lets me put the cover lightly over her. Simon is my favorite & she will occasionally sleep above my head & Lucy is at my feet or to my left. Not a good nights sleep—- [emoji53] Sophie (the White Devil) is still sleeping upstairs in her room every night. What-we wonder-will happen when she figures out she can balk??? We laugh then cringe. Senior cats will usually be lap cats....& they need loving homes too! [emoji3059]
