  • Very nice 4A!

    • Glad you enjoyed your weekend camping trip, Meg. I'd like to have seen the mermaids.

Your Candy decorations look very nice, 4A. Doubly so since y'all took the time to do them yourselves.

        • It's quiet on here. Are you all too busy with Christmas preparations to post?

          • Not too busy YB, just seem to have trouble getting in the spirit with all the news coming out of the US station, I fear we're all in for a rough ride come January. However, my decorating is all finished and it's snowing and looks Christmassy, especially with the coloured lights shining on the snow at night. Daughter has done most of her baking, for which we are thankful recipients, she gives away most of it as presents to friends. Very cold here so not setting foot outside the door. Hope all is well at your house, how are you spending Christmas?

            • Hi Mo

Whether or not Mr Trump proves to be a good thing or otherwise remains to be seen. Either way there is nothing we can do about it so it's no use worrying.

On a lighter note, the plan for Christmas is: None of us have a house big enough for all the family to congregate at once so Christmas day daughter & family at ours, Boxing Day son and family at ours. Then a visit to Mrs YB's brother on 27th. Somewhere in among a Skype to youngest son who lives in Australia. Not always easy to fit this in with the ten hour time difference. An added complication this year is that they have a new baby due a few days before but I'm sure we will manage it one way or another

              • Hi YB - You're lucky to be able to get together with family even if it is done in segments, always nice to have a big family and how exciting to get to Skype son in Australia and maybe get to see the new little one as well. I hope you have a great Christmas.

That sounded a little wistful, Mo. Are you not able to get together with yours this time?

We just hope that the weather is kind. I know a lot of people dream of a White Christmas but even though no one of ours has far to travel even five miles can become impossible if there is snow. Understandably those charged with keeping the roads open want at least a couple of days off. Even if the main roads are OK the biggest challenge can be getting off your own property and to the main road.

                  • I've been kind of busy with Christmas gifts...just waiting on one from Amazon (a mermaid tail blanket for my niece), have to figure out what my cousins 13 year old son would want and need to buy a bottle of Jack Daniels for my stepfather...I'm just putting off going to the liquor store. But the longer I wait, the worse it will be! I wrapped all the gifts yesterday & this week I'll start baking.

We don't ever have to worry about snow down here, but I did get to see White Christmas on the big screen last week...oh how I love that movie!

Hope you get to see family for Christmas Mo even if it ends up being Skype! Technology is good for something

                    • Hi Meg - we don't Skype - I'm not comfortable with it, never seem to get the screen in the correct position and I really need a stand to put the IPad on, don't have Skype on my Desktop. Quite happy with a phone call on Christmas Day and I'm in touch with Neil a lot on FB.

We have lots of snow - nothing compared to J.D. but enough for it to look Christmassy, especially with all the coloured lights on the houses.

                      • The only place I've seen snow this year is on the television....news and football games.

                        • YB - our son and family live about 2000 miles away so quite a ways to travel, plus their kids have to fly from their home to university in Edmonton each time they come home for a visit so it gets really expensive for them and there's no way we can go there.

                          • Here in the UK we tend to forget how small we are compared to USA/Canada/Australia. From the most north east bit of England to the most south west bit will be barely 600 miles

                            • Wow...Key West to Jacksonville is 500 miles!! And that's only Florida straight up I95 mostly.
