  • They're such a close family. She home schooled the kids- so hands on. We saw her more than him- he travels & hunts so.
    Very sad.

    • Today is the visitation for Craig & Karen's son Jerry in town. Kevin may stop by, I won't. I'll just send a card. She was just into see us before school let out - & talking about her grand baby. So sad. I guess too, with the kids getting older & sports & their friends, & Craig's career she must have stopped home schooling??? We met them around 2004? so yeah, the kids were ALL home then.

              • Did my hour at the range today. I'm having a really hard time with HAND PLACEMENT. My left hand just doesn't feel normal in any position I've tried except holding my right wrist. But! It seems the slide reaches my left thumb and nicks it. And I need to stop the death grip I have- I'm too tense!!!
                Otherwise good[emoji5]

                • What situation would you have to be in to feel you need to be able to use your gun 4A - do you live in a rural area or close to a dangerous area?

                  • Well Mo. We ARE considered rural. But the the interstate exit is just less than 1 mile away. Kevin has always worked for himself & has grown used to having a gun because of cash. We have MANY friends in law enforcement & talk with them everyday - you wouldn't believe the crimes they investigate. The world's not safe.
At the range yesterday people were shooting everything: a 22 pistol to an AR-15 (right beside me) Kevin is so coordinated that he can say "if you aim for the left shoulder", pow ** the hole in the target is in the left shoulder, he can replicate that with ease anywhere. I CAN NOT! I'm in the area...Kevin NEVER practices, he's only been to the range 2x more than me. But it's something he can look at & DO. I can't I'm too stiff, I can't keep my hands still, I have the "death grip". It's not familiar to me. That's why I go. Tho we don't leave 'til I get it in the RED; that's my choice. (time permitting) I hit the center on my 4th shot last week. We were ONLY there for 4 shots. But I stayed. Did good too. But this week, we left 10 minutes early... it took that long.

I'm confused, 4AM. Did you leave after you hit the red? As in, you only took four shots? Or did you stay and take more shots, and hit the red more times?

Arguably, where is "safe" anymore? We've all got places we perceive as safe, but over the last year, at least here in the US, it's been demonstrated that no place is "safe". Church bible studies, office Christmas parties, classrooms, night clubs surrounded by friends, shopping malls, your own home...the list goes on. Granted, the chances of being in a place targeted by an active shooter are ridiculously infinitesimally small. The chances of being involved in a violent crime requiring the use of deadly force are much greater, but still statistically small. Personally, I would rather not be in the position of the people we see on the news that are huddled in a room using anything they can to barricade the door and telling their families via cell phone they love them while having to wait for authorities to get there before the nut with the guns. If the nut gets there first, I'd like to have the option to shoot him before he shoots me or my family/friends.

                        • What are you doing?

Dan, YES I hit it on my fourth pull! & no I stayed ... and only hit it once more that day. It's more of a joke between us but I mean it, too. And I totally agree with you on "safe" places. Kevin carries everywhere we go. It's a small hammer less 380. Then we have one in each car, and a few around the house. Ours are ALL loaded.
I don't want to not be able to defend myself either. That's why I'm trying to learn - yes learn more about my (our) guns. I want to be very comfortable with it.
You have a hand placement technique for a handgun?

                          • Yes, I guess from reading all of what's happening in the States right now it seems that there is a lot of violence. It doesn't seem to be home infiltrators though unless that doesn't get reported. It's mostly this black, white policeman thing that's going on now. I watched the Republican Convention today, my goodness it was chaotic and then the speakers tonight, especially Guiliani were fierce about making America great again. He was practically foaming at the mouth. Trump's wife spoke well - I don't think it's Trump's supporters that are the problem, it seems to be his mouth runs away with him at times and he can become a bit scary and he says things that are often not politically correct. The talking heads on CNN had a great night, lots to talk about and Hillary Clinton came in for a lot of abuse, whether earned or not I don't know. I don't have a vote but I'd probably not care for either candidate. I just hope it all turns out well for the US.

                            • I would NEVER vote for Clinton. she's a liar & money grubber, career politician, in it to win it for the wrong reason(herself). And this white privilege crap she's preaching now ??? PLEASE. I know Trump can run off with his mouth, BUT ... I believe he truly wants to be a good President for the USA. I have great respect for him, what he's accomplished. No one goes into that job with ALL the facts & a plan for each. He will have advisors - meetings, etc. I believe that he will TRY to get us (US) back on track as a great country again. We are great, we've been better. a few examples
                              Double dippers abusing government funds
                              our borders
                              military
                              immigration
And yes Mo... crime here in the states on a daily basis isn't reported, (- there's just too much) just the outrageous crimes. I'm sure it's the same all over. Not a fun topic.
