View Full Version : Letter Game

Gismo

So, as we had in the previous forum, here's a letter game but with a twist, the trick here is that you have to replace one letter to replace the word in the same place

Lets see how we get on, we can always change it back

Example

Hoots

Hosts ------>

My word is Costs

Is that short for "hoonigan"? Which is similar to a hooligan?

Maybe I'm not understanding what the rule is - you can't change it around and have to keep more or less to the same word but a letter changed within its current structure, not just the first letter? Have I got that right?

If folks don't like it then we can always change back, i just thought it would be a bit more of a challenge?

Have we gotten off track a bit here, supposed to be keep basically the same word but change a letter not necessarily the first letter? Or can we continue and change the whole word around, i.e. back to front etc.? For instance, teach became chart and that was the way I liked the original way but Gis you said it took more thought leaving the word basically the same and just changing a letter. What's it to be?

Mo, we changed the rules, you gotta change a letter in its original position, so, for Hoons it would be Hoots

Fiona

Could be Fiona, don't know what the rules are anymore so maybe someone would like to straighten it out, would rather it wasn't me, I'm off to bed shortly. So some kind person can put us on the right path. It seems as though the rules changed a while back and I can't think what they were after the change. :(

Repetition (buzzer), my dear Momckee*

Let's take it one step back.
Crape>Crate

*It's from a famous BBC radio 4 programme 'Just a minute' where celebrity guests attempt to talk about a subject for sixty seconds without hesitation, repetition or deviation.

Sorry for the repetition Mr. B :o

prate (talk foolishly or tediously about something - thought I'd add the meaning as I don't think the word is used often)

There's a wonderful connection here, because prate is derived from Dutch, 'praten' (=to speak)
